My husband and I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in September 2015. We were fresh out of Provo, and my husband began attending Stanford for graduate school. With only a few months of marriage under our belt, we got called as Primary teachers together. I was also called as an activity days leader. While both of us served missions so we were used to teaching, we don’t have kids and teaching 8- and 9-year-olds was totally foreign to us. When the new year rolled around and we got a new class, we were in way over our heads. Our kids were not responding to our lessons – they were being disruptive, they wouldn’t cooperate, and in short it was awful. We dreaded going to Primary probably as much as our bored Primary kids did. Eventually we started creating games for our Primary kids to play in order to get our lessons across and it’s made all the difference! Our kids enjoy it, we can tell they are learning, and it makes for a much more enjoyable and smooth Sunday.
As a result, all of the blog entries will correspond with the following lesson manuals, which are provided by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
I hope you can benefit from the games we have created!
